Springtime is the perfect time to host a party for—or with!—the fairies in your garden. Whether your children wish to dress up like fairy princesses and princes, or to simply create a miniature fairyland ball out of natural garden elements, it will make for a very memorable springtime memory that you will cherish—and likely repeat—for years to come.
For a real-size fairy event, try…
Inviting other fairies over. Have the neighborhood kids come in costume, or invite some children from school for a play date. Find some cute ideas for making your own fairy invitations here.
Making your own costumes. Sure, there are plenty of iridescent fairy costumes out there with gossamer frills and lace, but what fun is there in putting those on? Instead, try making your own out of old clothes, fabric scraps, felt, or whatever else you have on hand. Some of the best fairy costumes might simply include tying a bunch of leaves and acorns together and adding them to a plain outfit of jeans and a t-shirt.
Having a fairy meal. Include sweet treats like small cakes and pastries. Make your own fairy punch by adding some fruit or ice cream to your favorite kool-aid; add just a splash of lemon-lime soda to make it fizzy if you wish.
Crafting fairy things. Make your own wands out of sticks and spare craft supplies, or create your own fairy dust with some glitter and tiny sequins or confetti.
For a tiny fairy event, try…
Making a fairy house. Use things you already have in your yard. If guests come to the party, see if they’d like to bring special things from their own yards, or small boxes to carry their houses home in.
Creating fairy furniture. Glue acorns, sticks, twigs, and other found materials together, or simply build them out of clay.
Making a fairy song or poem. Sing or recite it together to bring the fairies to your event. Make up a special dance, clapping sequence, or other movement to invite their arrival.
Leave fairy offerings. Tear off a bit of cake or another tiny treat and leave it by your fairy house for the fairies to eat.
