Crafting can be a great way to bond with your family and the long summer vacation is an ideal time to work on some craft projects with the kids. One of my favorite places to look for ideas and craft tips for children is Amazing Moms, founded by Kit Bennett. In addition to arts and crafts information, you can find an assortment of crafting supplies and ideas for cooking with kids, planning and hosting birthday parties, playtime activities and family fun.

One of the most popular projects at Amazing Moms lately has been the flower box garden. It was listed as a Mother's Day project, but that does not mean you can not still get the family together this weekend and make one. This is an idea the whole family can participate in and enjoy together. Customizing a flower box with your family members' names and decorating it with some festive artwork is simple to do. Adding the plants of your choice and a little soil will complete the project. You do not need a proverbial green thumb and a lot of space. Even if you have never gardened before and live in an apartment, this project will work. The flower box garden is a wonderful idea for bonding with the family as it encourages your family to continue to work together to make the garden grow and bloom.

Family PlanterFamily PlanterYou can also find a collection of great ideas for the kids to make Father's Day gifts on Amazing Moms. If Dad is the "King of the Barbeque Grill", this chef set with an apron, mitt and utensils might be greatly appreciated. For a Dad who is all about business, try this note pad holder and a wrapped pen to make his work day easier.

If you are in need of some ideas to fill your summer with memorable moments and cute mementos your children can create with their own two hands, you will want to check out the section devoted to arts and crafts for summer vacation. Anyone with children knows what a challenging task it can be to combat summer boredom. These are not your typical, redundant kid crafts either.

If you are planning a camping trip and taking along your fishing poles, you can test your skills at creating a t-shirt using one of the fish that takes the bait. Please read the instructions carefully to avoid turning a creative idea into a rotten one!

Turn refreshing Kool Aid into an art supply your kids will love making as much as they love using it. All you need is unsweetened Kool Aid, flour, salt, water and oil to concoct finger paint. This sounds messy, so be ready for a little bit of clean up afterwards. Let the kids make this finger paint and then take them outside to do a bit of nature painting. You can let them have fun and nurture their creative side while saving your house from creative disasters!

There is a lot to see and do at Amazing Moms. You can also follow them on Twitter to keep up with their latest developments and breaking craft news.
