Once winter hits, my daughter starts watching the weather forecast for snow. She can’t wait to get outside and make snowmen, snow angels, and igloos. While she is waiting for the right conditions to line up, I have her make a simple snowman craft out of a paper plate.
You will need the following items to make the snowman:
- White paper plates
- Scissors
- Construction paper/scrapbook paper
- Glue
- Fabric pieces
- Small twigs
Follow these steps to make the snowman:
Step 1:
Cut a small, medium, and large circle out of a paper plate. Glue these circles on top of each other on a piece of construction paper. You can also use a decorated piece of scrapbook paper that may have a winter scene as a background.
Step 2:
Cut a rectangle shape out of a piece of fabric. Glue this around the snowman’s neck (where the small and medium circles meet). The snowman now has a designer scarf.
Step 3:
Cut several small circles out of black contruction paper to resemble coal. Glue them to the snowman so that it has eyes, a mouth, and three buttons down the center of the middle circle.
Step 4:
Cut a carrot shape out of orange construction paper and glue it to the middle of the small circle. Make sure you turn the carrot sideways so that it looks like a nose.
Step 5:
Create a hat for the snowman out of black construction paper, or black fabric. Glue in place.
Step 6:
Collect two small twigs from your yard, and glue them coming out of the center circle so that your snowman has arms. This is the final step that will bring your snowman to life.
