My sister loves to decorate her house for each and every holiday. She passed this love on to her children, who decorate their bedrooms instead of the whole house. One craft I suggested they make is a St. Patrick’s Day Wreath. The wreath can be hung from a bedroom window, or outside the bedroom door.
You will need the following items to make your wreath:
- Paper plate
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Hole Puncher
- Yarn
Follow these steps to create your wreath:
Step 1:
Select construction paper in a light shade of green and a dark shade. Cut out at least twenty shamrocks from the construction paper.
Step 2:
Cut the center out of a paper plate. The round edge makes up the base of your St. Patrick’s Day wreath.
Step 3:
Glue the shamrocks around the edge of the paper plate, alternating shades of green as you go. Wait for the glue to dry before continuing to the next step.
Step 4:
Punch a hole through the top center of the wreath with a hole puncher. Slide a 1 ft. piece of green yarn through the hole and tie together at the ends. You now have a loop in which to hang the wreath from.
Tips:
- Spread glue over some of the shamrocks and then sprinkle gold glitter over the glue. The glue will dry clear, leaving behind a gold sparkle.
- Add other St. Patrick’s Day symbols to the wreath. You can cut out a pot of gold, a rainbow, or a leprechaun. Glue the symbols randomly, or to the bottom center of the wreath.
