Bright Some Light to Cold, Icy Nights

Winter can be depressing.  The cold, the dark, the ice.  Here is a little craft project to turn that icy cold weather to your advantage and add some glamorous lighting to those dark days. Ice Candles
  1. You will need two similar containers,  one of which must fit inside the other.
  2. Fill the larger container about 1/4 full with water.  Tap water will work,  but still mineral water will result in a crystal clear candle.
  3. Now insert the second container into the first.  Place a couple of bands of tape across the top of the containers to stop the smaller one from simply floating on the water.
  4. The water should now be in the space between the large and small containers, in a 'moat'.  If you want an ice base to your candle, make sure there is water underneath the smaller container.  Gradually add more water until it reaches about 3/4 of the way up the sides.
