Bullet Journal Must-Haves

Love to use your bullet journal? Me, too! I ran across this video today featuring a bunch of cool accessories you can use for bullet journaling, and with the exception of one (washi tape!), I don't use any of them. A couple of them look pretty nifty (that adhesive strip tool? Amazing!) but I have used a few others before (like the paper cutter) and not been very impressed. I trust my own scissor skills more than a paper cutter, to be perfectly honest.

Valentine Countown

In our home, we've always loved countdown calendars. We do them for birthdays, Halloween, Christmas and yes, Valentine's Day! It doesn't have to be elaborate; some years we've done "advent" style countdowns with small toys or candies, and sometimes we just do a paper chain. We do service countdowns where you perform an act of service each day and we've even done a countdown that included a new book every day!

Nature Based Crafts

It's the time of year to be cooped up with a bunch of crafts and cocoa, so what better crafts are there to make than some nature based goodies that you can share with your neighborhood? One of our favorites is the simple pinecone bird feeder. All you have to do is spread peanut butter over the pinecone, roll it in birdseed and hang it up. We have bird visitors coming all over our yard just to hit two of these!

Valentine's Salt Paintings

If you've never tried salt painting, you should make some plans to do it soon. Adding salt to watercolor is a beautiful way to add effects to your painting. In this tutorial for Valentine hearts, you'll be using the salt as a three dimensional effect to make your art truly pop and stand out. You only really need paint, glue and some table salt to do this project on some thick paper (cardstock works well). Your final piece will have hearts that stick out for a cool look.
